| Cape Town – The Cape capital |

Situated on the south-western tip of Africa, where the cool Atlantic Ocean meets the warm waters of the Indian Ocean is where the Europeans first established communities, and a bustling, vibrant city of Cape Town now stands. However, the story of the Republic of South Africa began in the Western Cape, some 350 years ago, when it was inhabitated by the Khoi-San and other Bantu-speaking groups. In the late 15th century European seafarers arrived here in search of a halfway stop on trade routes to the East.
Cape Town has some of the best that South Africa has to offer the visitor. From the stunning sight of Table Mountain – perhaps best viewed from Cape Town’s own “Alcatraz”: Robben Island – to the winelands around Stellenbosch, this is a region to explore and enjoy.

At the foot of Table Mountain lies Cape Town, a pulsating cosmopolitan city offering great shopping, top-class hotels and restaurants, beach playgrounds, forests and nature parks.
There are many Must-see attractions, and these include:
• Table Mountain – a quick spin by revolving cable car to the 1,086m summit, provides a grandstand view;

• The Victoria and Albert (V & A) Waterfront – Cape Town’s most visited attraction, with its shopping, eating, entertainment and sightseeing facilities, all set within a working harbour;

• Robben Island – a former prison (now a national monument and World Heritage Site) where a visit echoes with the sorrows of stalwarts of the struggle against apartheid. The island was “home” to many of South Africa’s freedom fighters, including the former President, Nelson Mandela.

• Africa’s Most Southerly Point – Cape Agulhus is the most southern point of South Africa, with spectacular views of the ocean. It is at this point that the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.
• Township Tours – a stirring reminder of how the will to survive can overcome any adversity. In Gugulethu and Langa expect to be overwhelmed by hospitality, informed roadside traders, rowdy taverns serving local beer with toe-tapping jazz. To get the most out of this experience, guided tours are recommended
